A Greek Key and natural scallops enhance the morning glories in this wide lace edge, originally designed by M. Pintner in 1927. The scallops are made as you go with easy increases and decreases, with no need for an additional edge. A matching insertion pattern is included, which can be used to run through the center of a dresser scarf or table runner with linen on each side. This is a very handsome border for any purpose, so you’re good to go for tablecloths, bedspreads and anywhere else you need a breath of spring.
The edited pattern has written instructions for every row of the Greek Key border, and has been corrected from the original (which didn’t quite work out, as you can tell from the photo).
This is not your usual scanned vintage crochet pattern. To make this pattern great for today’s crocheter I wrote complete instructions, expanded the written instructions so you won’t need to skip around, and made an easy to follow chart. I fixed the repeats so that the Greek Key works out correctly, and I also changed the written instructions to use modern US crochet terms.
The only stitches you need to know to complete this lace are: chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, and slip stitch.
